Weaving goodbye – going local in Peru

Nina Fogelman and Ancient Summit, Inc., are the inspiration for and the host of a new documentary (see the trailer below) that was filmed in the summer of 2009. The documentary features five American teenagers with a strong desire to go local, to immerse themselves in a different culture and forge a bond through the art of giving. Work on the documentary will hopefully be complete by the end of 2010.

Nina owns and operates Ancient Summit, Inc., a U.S.-based exclusive tour company specializing in private, custom tours of Peru. Ancient Summit believes that the modern traveler wants to take home an experience, not a store-bought souvenir and that they can achieve this through customized travel rather than having to adhere to a strict schedule. Of course, the deep knowledge and personal attention of a qualified and caring team is essential to turn a trip into lifelong memory.

“Although I am U.S.-born, I am extremely passionate about Peru and have lived there for many years,” said Nina. “I founded Ancient Summit several years ago because I want to share the local, more authentic experience. When you visit with us, you feel as if you are visiting friends and not viewing this magical place from the window of a bus on a tightly timed schedule.

“I have lived and traveled to many places but nothing ever impacted me like this magical country. Peru taught me so much about life and my relationship with others and with the world around me. When friends came to visit, it was very important for me to share this with them and so I showed them Peru my way. Now I would like to share this with you.

“Become a part of your travel experience. Don’t stay on the outside looking in. Enjoy the people, food, customs and embrace the differences. We have so much to learn from each other.”
